The publishing of the Donkey books has led to many speaking engagements for George.  Over the past few years, he's been popping up at private parties, WI's, Banker's dinners, fund raising events and other such occasions.  On several bank holiday mornings, he has been heard on local radio, chatting about the great local characters of the past and in 1996 he was named as Radio Guernsey Personality of the Year!

A television appearance also resulted from the popularity of the books.  George was invited to appear on Aspects, a Channel Television programme on which local people are given the opportunity to share their beliefs.  George has been a committed, born-again Christian since 1976 and on Aspects he summed up his faith in four Bible verses:

"All have sinned and come short of the glory of God"  (Romans 3 v 23)

"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6 v 23)

"Christ in you, the hope of glory" (Colossians 1 v 27)

"Behold I stand at the door and knock:  if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in"  (Revelation 3 v 20)

George is married with two daughters, he attends the Vale Mission & King's Barn Mission, works as supervisor at the Board of Admin Recycling depot and writes his books in his spare time.  He is also the local collection point for BookAid and in this capacity is always pleased to receive Bibles, New Testaments and Christian books for sending to Africa.

George has signed so many copies of his books that he jokes,
"the unsigned ones are the rare ones - hang on to them!"
